In a collaborative effort spearheaded by WWF-India, the Forest Department, and Green Peepal Society Udaipur, an event was organized on March 17, 2024, at Eco Tone Park in Udaipur to raise awareness about eco-trails, photography, environmental conservation, and wildlife protection. Participants aged between 7 and 70 from various cities actively engaged in the Eco Trail, underscoring the significance of environmental stewardship.
Udaipur's Wildlife Conservationist, Devendra Tiwari, facilitated discussions on the insights gained from the Eco Trail and elaborated on the importance of sustainable resource management. Emphasizing the necessity of community participation, he advocated for the conservation of the Aravalli mountain range, utilization of solar energy, and responsible use of water resources. Additionally, the community was urged to contribute to the Earth Hour campaign by switching off non-essential lights from 8:30 to 9:30 PM on March 23, 2024.
Environmentalists Dr. Satish Sharma elucidated the significance of Eco Tone Park, highlighting its role in biodiversity conservation, particularly in preserving the critically endangered Mahseer fish species and maintaining the ecological balance of the region. Suhel Mazboor and Pratap Singh Chundawat, Founding Members of Green Peepal Society Udaipur, along with bird enthusiasts Hitesh Shrimaal and Rohit Dwivedi, provided guidance to attendees.
The event facilitated the dissemination of information about over 50 bird species and approximately 20 plant species, enriching participants' knowledge of biodiversity. Rana, Head of the College of Technology and Engineering NSS, led a group of 45 students in the program. Young birder Bhavani Pratap Singh compiled a list of bird species observed during the event.
The unveiling of an environmental conservation poster at Alok Institute by Director Dr. Pradeep Kumawat and other dignitaries marked a significant moment in the campaign. This initiative underscores the growing momentum towards environmental consciousness and collective action for sustainable development.
