Hi readers, don't get surprised to read this heading. I am sharing a short story with you today which is a fiction.
Puja is an educated and talent girl who belongs to a business family. She is the mother of two sweet girls. She lost her husband in a plane crash. Her in-laws threw her out of their house after her husband's death. Once again she started her life from scratch and moved to a small town. She started teaching in a village school near by her town. She became over sensitive in these years and lost interest in relationships. Pranav was teaching in the same school. Both started sharing their thoughts with each other. This happened when Pranav insisted her to open up and try to be friendly. Pranav started visiting her off and on. They started spending time with each other in free time.
After few months Puja realised that Pranav is a kind person who is always ready to help her in difficult time.
But slowly their friendship became talk of the town. Pranav's wife Anuja was an uneducated house wife. People started gossiping about Puja. Anuja started disliking Puja.
One fine day Pranav and Puja were having lunch together in free period. Suddenly Anuja entered in staffroom and in front of others started insulting Puja.
Anuja told other teachers that Puja uses some kind of tantra to control men. She told others in an abusive manner that Puja is a witch who has tamed her husband Pranav. She did not stop here. She put blames on Pranav for mistreating her.
Pranav could not utter a word and left school with his wife. Puja was shocked. Everyone was staring at her. She was humiliated in her own school.
Puja reached home and locked herself inside her bedroom. She was disturbed and decided to leave her job. Looking at her daughters she gathered her courage and try to talk to Anuja. Anuja insulted her once again on phone and threatened her to spoil her life.
Puja went to school the other day. Everyone was laughing at her. No one gave her chance to speak. Principal told her to give resign. Puja cried a lot and looked at Pranav. Pranav was quiet and refused to help her at this crucial moment. School closed and Puja started walking towards bus stop. Suddenly few villagers came and dragged her in bushes. She was brutally raped by 5 men. They took her to the village and humiliated in front of the while village. They declared her to be a witch who had superstitious powers.
Puja was insulted and burnt alive.
Pranav could not bear this and attempted suicide. Anuja was left alone with her two sons to understand the bitter truth of life. Those who polluted her mind never turned up. Her relatives scolded her for being so rude. Now Anuja is working as a Peon in same school.
This story may be a fiction but this is still happening in many parts of our country. Women are being tortured and ill treated only on the basis of rumors or some very illiterate statements. Puja was killed by some villagers after being raped which could be avoided by them if they were educated or some education was given to them regarding a women. Pranav was wrong at his part. He opted for suicide rather than speaking the right thing and standing for the right thing. He should have taken his wife to a doctor for her treatment so that such incidents can be avoided. Also no woman is harmed because of such incidents. People should never misguide uneducated people. I hope my message is delivered from a fiction though a realistic thing.
