States Government are under Economic Pressure: Gadkari

Udaipur: (Dr. Munesh Arora) The state Government can reduce the immediate burden by increasing the retirement age of Government employees in the state. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari gave a statement yesterday that due to the Corona pandemic, many States will not have the money to run the Government next month.  This statement of Gadkari states that the economic system of the States has been completely shaken by the Corona pandemic.   Earlier, the Central Government has banned dearness allowances being given to the Central employees till July 2019.  Due to which the employees across the country have been hit twice.  The Central Government has also banned the 6 percent DA declared from January 2020, due to which lacs of employees will have to suffer double economic losses.  The biggest impact of this will be on the family pension being received by the pensioners and their family members. The employees who will retire between January 2020 and July 2021will bear the maximum loss. This will have a direct effect on all other retirement benefits such as pension, gratuity, leave increase, due to which the employees will have to face direct economic loss of Rs 2 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.  The direct impact of which will also be on the employees of the Government of Rajasthan.  Already the economic condition of the Rajasthan government is shaky due to the economic loss of the employees in this era of taxation, giving rise to agitation in them. Congress leader Lal Singh Jhala from Udaipur has written a letter to the Chief Minister seeking to increase the age of the retired employees to deal with such a situation, which does not even bear the financial burden on the State Government and until the new appointments are made, the Government has to face the consequences. The Minister of State for Higher Education, Bhanwar Singh Bhati, in Udaipur, did the deception to increase the retirement age of teachers in the Universities and College Education departments under the UGC rules in the state's higher education department.  He said that at present, there are 6500 teacher's posts in college education and many more new colleges have been opened by the State Government.  There are about 3500 college teachers working in the state, so that to maintain the standard of education in college education, under the UGC rule, the Government will increase the retirement age by making immediate decision on the retirement age of college teachers to be 62 years.  This is the best time to implement Bhati's announcement as more than 100 teachers retire from the college education department every year in the State Government, but there are no new recruitments.  At the same time, every teacher takes up payment of about seventy lacs to one crore rupees under retirement benefits.  Today, the State Government is having difficulty in lifting this load. The same way new teachers are not being recruited.  In such a situation, the Government of Ashok Gehlot shall increase the retirement age of college teachers.

By the way, Gehlot is known for his ambiguity, he has a different identity in the politics of the country.  University and college teachers are also being demanded for increasing the retirement age for a long time, many state Governments of the country have also implemented this, but in Rajasthan, the state government is also struggling with the condition of arbitration, there is a shortage of experienced teachers in the Universities and Colleges.   In Rajasthan State, the age of retirement in the doctors and medical department has been increased to 75 years, as a result of which, due to this, the State Government is fighting a pandemic like corona today.  Had this decision not been taken on time, today the situation would have been in a terrible state due to the absence of experienced doctors.   This is also the condition of the Higher Education Department.  Because of the impact of this pandemic, the State Government will have to fight unemployment, falling levels in education, and illiteracy in the coming times.  In such a field of education, new research will be needed.  For which the qualified teachers will be greatly reduced in the next two years, so that the level of education and research can go down significantly.   The teacher's leaders have put this in front of the Ministry of Higher Education. Therefore, the need is that until the financial condition of the State improves, the retirement age of the employees should be increased immediately.  Retirement age of 62 years should be immediately given to the UGC qualified teachers.   By the way, other states have kept it for 65 years.

In many countries, the retirement age of college teachers is 65 years.  Due to 65 years in the Central Universities, teachers from the Universities are looking forward to go there which is likely to affect the quality of education of the State.  Minister of State for Higher Education Bhanwar Singh Bhati says that the Honorable Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot must take a quick decision on this.  The teachers of the college and higher education department have been waiting for Ashok Gehlot for a long time, hoping to get the state's higher education out of this critical condition.
