HDFC Bank Limited successfully raised $300 million in its first-ever sustainable finance bond issue, as part of a total $750 million Regulation S Bonds issuance. The three-year sustainable bond achieved the tightest credit spread by an Indian issuer for its size, with a spread of 95 basis points over US Treasury. Another $450 million was raised for a five-year senior unsecured bond with a spread of 108 basis points. The funds will be used for green and social loans, prioritizing areas like electric vehicles, SMEs, and affordable housing, while the remainder supports general banking activities.
