Udaipur: "A 21-day national training has begun on 03rd entitled “ Increase in Water Productivity in Arid and Semi-Arid Areas for Sustainable Agriculture" by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi under the aegis of Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur, Department of Water and Soil Conservation Engineering, College of Technology and Engineering, Udaipur . Dr. KK Yadav, Training In-charge, Maharana Pratap Agricultural and Technological University, Udaipur, told that in this 21-day training, various Indian Council of Agricultural Research of 6 states (Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Punjab and Rajasthan) of the country. , New Delhi 25 scientists from institutes and agricultural universities are participating. In the inaugural session of this training, Dr. Narendra Singh Rathore, Vice Chancellor, Maharana Pratap University of AgricultureandTechnology,Udaipur saidthat there is a need for the planned use of water in food production. He said that in our nation, food production per water unit, compared to othernations,ismore,whiletheirrigatedarea is the highest in India. He said that water is most used in rice and meat production. The currenttrainingisrelevantanditsuseful importanceis toincreasewaterproductivity inagriculture. The chairman of the program, Dr. Ajay Kumar Sharma, Dean, Technology and EngineeringCollege,Udaipur,,gavetheoutline of the 21-day training program and gave informationabout variousactivities tobedone inthecollege.Speakingasguestofhonor,Dr.PrabhakarNanda, Project Coordinator, Institute of Water Management, Bhubaneshwar told that it is necessary to increase water productivity in agricultural irrigation by incorporating new technologies. Because the per capita water availability in the country is constantly eroding, it is necessary to secure water for the future. For this, drip and sprinkler irrigation system should be adopted.Research Director Dr.A.K. Mehta addressing the participants said that today is the time for mechanization in agriculture and new technologies developed in the irrigation sector should also be disseminated.
