Udaipur. The much-awaited demand for e-rickshaws of students of MLSU is going to fulfill fulfilled soon. The Nagar Nigam has agreed to give ten e-rickshaws to the university.
Sukhadia University spokesperson Dr. Kunjan Acharya said that there had been a demand for e-rickshaws for movement within the university for a long time. After taking charge in July, Vice-Chancellor Professor Amarika Singh met Municipal Mayor GS Tank with a request in students' interest and sought help in running e-rickshaws. At that time, the Mayor had assured that he would help in fulfilling this demand.
Nagar Nigam Commissioner Himmat Singh Barhat has issued a consent letter to provide ten e-rickshaws to Sukhadia University. An MoU will be signed between the Nagar Nigam MLSU in writing and will be f on further processing, like e-rickshaw operations, e-rickshaw transfer, etc.
Running an e-rickshaw, students have to walk from the main gate to various colleges, administrative buildings as there is no facility of movement within the university. Running e-rickshaws will not only facilitate the students but will also protect the environment.
"In 2012, a cycling campaign was started by the then Vice-Chancellor, Prof. IV Trivedi, towards environmental protection in the university.
