In the two-day National Chest Conference PSCP-2023 held in Delhi, Dr. Atul Luhadia and Dr. Amit Gupta, specialists in respiratory diseases at Geetanjali Medical College and Hospital, Udaipur, were chosen from Udaipur for panel discussions on topics related to asthma and sleep medicine, respectively. Dr. Atul discussed the latest guidelines on asthma, highlighting the potential reduction of asthma symptoms and disease control through anti-inflammatory reliever medications delivered via inhalers. He also emphasized the effectiveness and safety of inhaler medications.
During the conference, Dr. Amit Gupta discussed sleep medicine. He shed light on the symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea, such as loud snoring during sleep, irregular breathing rate during sleep, excessive daytime sleepiness, lack of concentration in daily tasks, etc. He stressed that if a person exhibits such symptoms, it could indicate obstructive sleep apnea, and it's advisable for them to undergo polysomnography or a sleep study test to diagnose and initiate timely treatment. This approach helps prevent severe negative consequences and complications associated with this condition.
