"Udaipur, C.P. Joshi, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, addressed the press conference at Taj Aravali Hotel on Sunday about the 9th CPA India Regional Conference. He shed light on the initiatives undertaken by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) and its relevance in the current scenario. He emphasized the continuous efforts of CPA to fortify democracy globally. He further elaborated that the organization was founded in 1911 and has evolved into its current form since 1948. Presently, it comprises over 180 member parliaments distributed among 9 geographical regions. Dr. Joshi proudly acknowledged that the Speaker of Lok Sabha also hails from the state of Rajasthan.
Hosting the 9th CPA India Regional Conference is an honor for Rajasthan. Udaipur has consistently been a venue for various national and international events. Dr. Joshi detailed that the conference will take place from August 21st to 22nd, with two sessions. The first session will focus on topics such as digital empowerment, enhancing the skills of parliamentarians in good governance, and addressing the challenges of the current era. The second session will discuss the role of parliamentarians in strengthening the nation through democratic institutions. Notable figures like Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla, Rajasthan Governor Shri Kalraj Mishra, Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha Shri Harivansh Narayan Singh, among others, will participate in the event.
Dr. Joshi highlighted the remarkable efforts of the Rajasthan branch of CPA over the past five years, organizing 11 seminars with participation from eminent personalities including the President, Vice President, and Governors. He emphasized that our democracy, over 75 years old, is evolving, and the role of legislators in crafting quality legislation is pivotal. He stressed the need for constant discussion and deliberation in the legislative bodies to ensure the country's progress.
During the press conference, the Secretary-General of the Legislative Assembly, Mahavir Prasad Sharma, and Deputy Director (Public Relations) of the Legislative Assembly, Dr. Lokesh Chandra Sharma, were also present.
