Udaipur Theatre Festival-Pre-event Release

Theatre festival represents creative brilliance. It unfurls an opportunity to showcase the best minds and actors in performing arts. It ensures an immersive and magical experience for the audience to enjoy slice of life in all its shades.

Udaipur, the City of Lakes in Rajasthan, is set to witness the magic of an amazing theatre festival in the first week of March. Festive mood is in the air as the scenic city Udaipur gears up for a 3-day theatre festival written, directed, and performed by distinguished personas in the field of performing arts.

Prabha Khaitan Foundation, based out of Kolkata, was founded by Late Dr. Prabha Khaitan. The Foundation is dedicatedly working towards promoting literature, performing arts, cultural heritage, and women empowerment all throughout India. The organization is active in 40 cities in India and overseas.

Prabha Khaitan Foundation under their initiative “Chalchitra Rangmanch “ brings - a 3-day theatre festival with a potpourri of 3 powerful and poignant theatrical productions on 5th, 6th and 7th of March 2022.

The Foundation has curated this festival with great care for its patrons after a long hiatus of lockdown induced by Covid-19 pandemic. It is in sync with the Foundation’s continued legacy of promoting art and culture in India and foreign shores with the assistance of like-minded organizations, people and Ehsaas women of India.

Artistically-inclined women stalwarts Lillete Dubey and Ila Arun are ready to entertain audience with three contemporary stage dramas acted by world-class names in the industry. Ila Arun, Lillete Dubey, KK Raina, Vikrant Mishra, Ira Dubey, Joy Sengupta, Mark Bennington, Rishi Khurana, Pranav Sachdev & others are geared to present the best theatrical performances ever.

Day 1 (March 5, 2022) of Udaipur Theatre Festival begins with Lockdown Liaisons written by Shobhaa De. The play directed by Lillete Dubey, a notable Indian actor and theatre director is based on the collection of 5 short stories. Set in the times of Covid, the play is a chronicle of unprecedented times exploring insecurities of life and human relationships. The star cast includes Lillete Dubey, Ira Dubey, and Joy Sengupta.

Day 2 (March 6, 2022) stages Devika Rani written by Indian author and columnist Kishwar Desai. Lillete Dubey directs an amazing play based on the life of India’s first international screen diva Devika Rani, the first woman ever to run a film studio - iconic Bombay Talkies. The star cast includes Ira Dubey, Joy Sengupta, Mark Bennington, and Rishi Khurana.

Day 3 (March 7, 2022) showcases Yeh Raaste Hain Pyar Ke, the first ever original play written by Ila Arun, a world-class name in the genre of folk and folk-pop music. The play is directed by KK Raina. In an uncertain time of a raging pandemic, Ila Arun weaves a beautiful narrative of two elderly people who are desperate to break free from the isolation of their empty lives. The star cast includes Ila Arun, KK Raina, and Vikrant Mishra.

Esteemed audience, associates, and partners are all set to indulge in three evenings of theatrical brilliance in Udaipur.

The festival will also be attended by Ehsaas women from various cities across India . Ehsaas is a conglomeration of like minded ladies from all walks of life who come together to promote and support the society.

Ms Swati Agarwal , Ms Shraddha Murdia, Ms Mumal Bhandari, Ms Kanika Agarwal, Ms Riddhima Doshi & Ms Shubh Singhvi – Ehsaas women of Udaipur are all set to host this festival in Udaipur
