Professor Sharma to Lead Discussions at WTO Ministerial Conference

Professor Bhagwati Prakash Sharma, Group President of Pacific University, is set to play a pivotal role in the 13th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Abu Dhabi from February 26th to 29th, 2024. Appointed as the representative of optional organizations, Professor Sharma will coordinate two discussions on February 27th and 28th at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center.
With participants including commerce ministers from 164 WTO member countries and representatives from 25 additional nations as observers, the conference is a significant gathering. Professor Sharma will tackle crucial topics. On February 27th, the discussion focuses on "Compulsory Licensing on Self-Evident Intellectual Property Rights," exploring solutions for controlling prices of patented medicines. The following day, February 28th, sees a discussion on "Possibilities of Necessary Review in Various Multilateral Trade Agreements for Resolution of Disputes Arising from Multilateral Trade Agreements," aiming to enhance the balance in WTO trade agreements.
Professor Sharma, a veteran participant in WTO conferences since 2003, brings valuable expertise to address critical issues shaping global trade.
