Tourist Boom In lake city

Udaipur tourism seems to continue its winning streak of getting coveted awards now it has bagged the prestigious 9th Conde Nast Traveler India Travel awards 2019 for the favourite leisure destination in India. According to hotel association and tour and travel agency sources, due to increase in air travel facility, Udaipur would attract manymoretouristsduringthenextChristmas festival. The booking in hotels at present is about 70% and it would be 100% during Christmas season, from December 21st to 2nd January. As the number of hotels is increasing tourists would have no difficulty ingettingampleaccommodation.InUdaipur there are 700 to 800 big and small hotels with about 10,000 rooms. In addition to this the city has about 100 paying guest houses ,25 to 30 ‘Dharmshalas’ and about 40 resorts. Some hotels have reduced their tariff due to recession in the market. The recent figures about tourists in the city are 61260 (Indian) and 3082 (Foreign) in June 2019 and 64955 (Indian) and 6945 (Foreign) visitors inJuly2019.For July2019 and August 2019 the figures are 76215 (Indian) and 11520 (Foreign) and 78815 (Indian) and 10375 (Foreign) respectively. In this season most foreign tourists are from UK, France, Italy, Canada, USA, Germany and Australia.The figures for October2019areUK(2573),France(2432), Germany (2042),Australia (1555) andUSA (1772).NRI’s also visit Udaipur in the season. Foreign tourists most of whom are FrenchandGermanareenjoyingthemselves fully. They watched eagerly rural women shopping in the Delhigate, Dhanmandi areas while groups from England bought guava from Santoshi Mata Mandir area. Buses fullof school childrenfromGujarat and Maharashtra are also being seen. There are long queues of tourist waiting for a boat ride in Fatehsagar. The favourite haunts of foreign tourist are City Palace, Sahelion in Bari, Picchola, Sajjangarh, Fatehsagar,GulabbagandDoodhtalai.While somy of them also visit neighboring places likeJaisamand,Rajsamand,Gourmghatand Kumbhalgarh. - According to Sikha Saxena, Deputy Director,TourismDepartment,Udaipur“The valleys of Aravali and places of heritage importance are being promoted through social media, brochures and twitter official accommodation.”
