Sangeet Natak Akademi award to Rajasthan's pantomime artist Vilas Janve

Sangeet Natak Akademi has announced the Academy Awards for 2019, 2020, and 2021. According to Secretary Anish P Rajan, 128 performing artists in the country have been selected for the Academy Awards. Udaipur's senior artist Vilas Janve has been chosen for the year 2021 in the field of Pantomime. Vilas Janve has brought pride to Rajasthan and other Indian states by getting the country's fifth prestigious award in Pantomime. Vilas Janve, 68, has been associated with Pantomime for five decades. Achievements of Vilas Janve Vilas Janve received Senior Fellowship in the field of Pantomime from the Ministry of Culture in 2001. Janve has participated in National Pantomime Festivals since 1998 (Delhi, Kolkata, Shanti Niketan, Dimapur, Guwahati, Imphal, Jalpaiguri, Prayagraj, Thiruvananthapuram, Mumbai, Jodhpur, Has performed in Jaipur, Udaipur, and Mumbai with wife Kiran Janve. He has directed pantomime workshops for art academies and educational institutions in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Rajasthan. Vilas Janve, who assisted Goswami in pantomime workshops, has composed twenty pantomimes on historical and social subjects and has given performances on Doordarshan and many forums in the country. Vilas Janve has trained hundreds of teachers of the country in Pantomime through the workshops of CCRT. Janve, a program officer for 28 years at the Western Zone Cultural Center in Udaipur, has trained pantomime artists in Rajasthan besides Divyang (deaf children) and the Central Jail, Udaipur. Janeve has innovated by creating pantomimes on the poems of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore's Nobel Prize composition Gitanjali. For the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence, “Gunje Raag Desh Prem Ka” has been created and displayed in festivals. Janve, who is serving as a consultant at the CCRT Regional Centre, has been keen to bring innovation to school education through the medium of art. Vilas Janve, associated with the Martand Foundation, tries to teach values to children through Pantomime and street plays. Janve, associated with Pantomime across the country, presented his father Late for this award.
