Dr Pawanindra Lal felicitated with Dr B.C Roy Award

New Delhi: Dr Pawanindra Lal, Director Professor of Surgery at Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) has been awarded with the Prestigious "Dr B.C Roy Award" for the year 2016 - for excellence in the field of Medicine. The award was presented by President, Shri Pranab Mukherjee.
Dr Lal was felicitated with the coveted award for "Recognizing the best talents in encouraging the development of specialties in different branches in Medicine".
Dr PawanindraLal is Director Professor of Surgery at Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi. An award winning graduate from MAMC and post graduate from UCMS, Delhi, DrLal joined his alma mater in 1999 after having worked as a faculty in GMC Chandigarh. Keenly interested in teaching and laparoscopic surgery, he has more than 80 publications in national and international journals and more than 200 paper presentations. He is a member of all national surgical bodies as well as ELSA (Asia), ALS (UK) and SAGES (USA) and a fellow of three Royal College of Surgeons in UK and also of the American College of Surgeons. He is the head of the Clinical Skills Centre and leads the Minimal Access Surgery training programme, both his founding contributions.
His academic talent has been internationally recognized and he is the first Indian working in India who has contributed a chapter in the 25th Edition of Bailey & Love's Short Practice of Surgery in 2008. He has also authored a Handbook on Critical Care and Fluid Management in 2008. He is possibly the only Indian with more than 10 original publications in Surgical Endoscopy, the official journal of SAGES, USA.
The Bidhan Chandra Roy Award was instituted in 1976 in the memory of renowned physician and freedom fighter B C Roy by Medical Council of India.It is the highest award that is bestowed upon on a Medical person practicing in India.
