Dr. Mukta Sharma

Thoughts lie buried deep,
Under the snow,
Hardened by years,
Coloured black and brown
By the treading feet.
Some like caged birds
When set free,
Soar high on flapping wings
Loose strength and fall
Face down,
Seeking refuge, in aged silence.
Some there are
Alien, unknown, still-born,
Wrapped in the sheets with care,
Shoved away
In the vault of Tutankhamen,
Never to be unwrapped,
Lest be consumed by the curse.
Restless, she trudge on
In the tunnel of time,
Through darkness and through light,
Shaking of the falling dust,
She strides on eternally to infinity.
