Mass support to the "Band"Call Udaipur: "Bharat Band" received popular mass support in Udaipur also as in other parts of the state. The uncontrolled price hike of petroleum products, as well as fascist policies of BJP leading to mob-lynching, rapes of young girls and attack on intellectuals, writers and poets, has created a lot of unrest among the masses. The continuous fall of the Indian Rupee and the helplessness of the Union government has also angered the people against the ruling BJP and its allies. Indian National Congress and the left front had separately given the call for "Bharat Band" and had declared that they would expose the anti-people policies of the union government through this step.
In Udaipur, the leaders and workers of Indian National Congress gathered near Shanti-Anandi Statues at Delhi Gate and shouted slogans against rising prices and mis-governance of NDA led central government. Member of AICC former MP Raghuveer Singh Meena led the demonstration. He was supported by Pankaj Sharma, member of state executive, Dinesh Dave, party spokesperson, RiyazHussain, Kalyan Singh Rao, Mohammad Firoz Khan and a good number of congressmen.
They moved in vehicles along the marketplace and appealed the people to observe "Band" till 3 O'clock.
The left front leaders and workers collected at the Surajpole Police Chowki. The CPI (M), CPI (ML), CPI, Janta Dal (S) and their front organizations participated in a demonstration and rally to support the cause. Member of the State Committee of CPI ( ML) Comrade ShankerLalChaudhary addressed the gathering. He said that when the price of crude oil in the international market was 150 dollars per barrel during the UPA regime, the price of petrol was Rs. 64 per liter. During the NDA rule the price of crude oil in the international market fell down to 35 - 40 dollars per barrel but the price of petrol and diesel kept mounting.
Even today when the price of crude oil is nearly 70 dollars per barrel the prices of diesel and petrol are rising every day. He claimed that the government is doing so in order to benefit capitalists like Anil Ambani and others. CPI (M) city secretary and former councilor Rajesh Singhvi said that the move of Rajasthan Government to cut the prices of petrol and diesel by reducing VAT by 4% is only an eyewash. He said that the BJP led NDA government needs to be thrown over both in the state as well as in the center. The leaders of left front took out a rally on vehicles from Surajpole, commerce college, Sevashram, HiranMagri, Reti Stand, ParasChouraha, Udaipole, Bapu Bazar, Hathipole, Fatehpura to the Celebration Mall. Saurabh Naruka of AICTU, Prof.SudhaChaudhary of AIPWA, Ganpati Devi of AIDWA, HiraLalSalvi of CITU, B.L.Chanwal of KisanSabha, RajendraVasita, Councilor , Guman Singh Rao of ThelaVyavsayi Union, C.K.Verma of CPI(M), District secretary of CPI (M) Pratap Singh Devra, District Secretary of CPI (ML) Dr. Chandra Dev Ola, district secretary of CPI Lahar Singh Chhajed, Mahesh Sharma, Munavvar Khan of Mazdoor Ekta Union , poet Habib Jama Khan, Lalit Meena and Shamsher Khan of DYFI, and many others participated in the rally and demonstration.
