New Delhi India Heritage in Digital Space Exhibition is presently on in National Museum, Janpath, New Delhi and will continue up to 23rd Feb., 2020. The project of Digital conservation has been funded by the Department of Science and Technology. The PMO is also monitoring this project minutely.
Union Minister of Science and Technology Dr. Harsh Vardhan today visited National Museum to peruse going exhibition on Digital Conservations. He described it a unique project of Science and Technology Department. Under the project damaged Historical Monument and extinct art forms like dance are being conserved for the future generation. The process includes laser scanning and mapping of the monument and preparation of digital format of the monuments on the basis of the available historical facts information. The 3D Digital form is finally prepared to enable to take print in different sizes. The exhibition has been disseminating essence of Incredible India in real sense. This also helps in conserving damaged historical monuments in its original form for the younger generation and researchers. He added that there is a need to make it a permanent exhibition. He appealed school teachers and parents to bring children to see for themselves the rich monumental characteristics being displayed in the exhibition.Dr. Harsh Vardhan described the conserved formats interesting, educative and important. The Exhibition has been show casing digital Hampi, Konark Temple, Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Rani ki Rav and Taj Mahal. The Digital Conserved monuments have been taking visitors to the old era of rich architectural techniques. One can watch these Digitally Conserved monuments etc. while sitting at home and feel information and importance of monuments. Dr. Harsh Vardhan added that Department of Science and Technology will continue to provide financial assistance for such project. The exhibition has been promoting the concept of digital IndiaDr. Harsh Vardhan stated that various IIT’s are involved in such projects. He added that there is a dire need to make this exhibition comprehensive for which the work will have to done in many other regions of the country. The exhibition will serve as a bridge between the past and future and will make aware the next generations about the rich cultural values and architectural techniques; this will help the new generation to learn the move forward in conserving monuments. The exhibition will also attract tourists from all parts of the country and abroad.
Senior Leader Dr. V. K Malhotra also expressed his views. Dr. Anupma Malik stated that large number of people coming to see the exhibition and their interest is being furthered. The exhibition has earned laurels from the UNESCO and other global organizations. The viewers have been taking more and more interest in the conservation of the monuments.
