Five Years of Rebuilding Trust and Hope In June 2010 Prof. I.V. Trivedi, an eminent educationist and able administrator, took over as theVice Chancellor of Mohanlal Sukhadia University.Withsharpfocusandfirm resolve to turn an adverse situation aroundProf.Trivedi,setoutwithprobity in all his endeavours, to set the state of affairs in the University. He promotedanenablingambienceand harmonious blend of all functionarieswithskillandcompetence,utmost professionalismandroundtheclock diligence.As the result of which he couldimplementaseriesofreforms atall levels.Underhisdynamicleadership and guidance in the last five years the University has scaled new heights and still the process is on. Before taking over as the Vice Chancellor Prof. Trivedi had the wealth of experience and proactive dynamism in almost all administrative positions of the University. Deeply aware of the grave responsibility reposed in him, Prof. Trivedi initiated a dialogue and interaction with the Faculty, Students and Non Teaching Staff and eminent scholars associated with the University. Introspecting on the challenges, with inputs from diverse fields of scholarship,heassessedtheground reality. It was a huge challenge at all levelsAcademic,Administrative and Finance. With the firm resolve and unflinching faith in himself he decided to move ahead with rejuvenating initiatives well thought out plansandstrategies.Keepinginview enrichingtheUniversitywithhuman resources he initiated the process of Career Advancement Scheme (CAS)andalsothefreshrecruitment of the Faculty and Non Teaching Staff. For the first time in the selection process reviewing and screening committees were constituted, screeningtestswereconducted.The selection of over 180 new faculties recreated a sense of gratitude and sawtheresurgenceoftrustandcommitment. We s t Zo n e Vi c e Chancellor’s Conference was organised on 29-30 July, 2011. It was inaugurated by Mr. Montek Singh Aluhwalia, the then Vice ChairmanofPlanningCommission. On basis of the recommendations oftheconferenceandtheinsistence of UGC, New Delhi CBCS system was introduced in the selected coursesofFacultyofScience.Itwas decided that in other courses also it will be introduced in phases. For a n y Un i v e r s i t y h o l d i n g o f Convocation is a matter of pride, this aspect had been ignored during the previous years but Prof. Trivedi in the right earnest reinitiated and restored the regularity of convocationsintheUniversity.From 5-11December,2012theUniversity hosted West Zone Youth Festival in collaboration withAssociation of IndianUniversities(AIU)NewDelhi. Established as the University of UdaipurinJuly1962theyear2012- 2013 was its Golden Jubilee year. It was indeed the year full of activities for the Faculty, Students and Non Teaching Staff. In this journey offiftyyears,theUniversityhassuccessfully brought about transformation in the realm of higher education in the southern Rajasthan. It was during this period that Shri. PranabMukherjee,thePresidentof IndiaandthethenFinanceMinister, Government of India delivered Golden Jubilee Lecture on 13 May, 2012 to the Faculty, Students and Non Teaching Staff. In the month of April,2013Dr.PallamRaju,thethen Minister of Human Resource Development was the Chief Guest for the Closing Ceremony of the Golden Jubilee Year. In May, 2013 Prof. Trivedi was nominated member of Indian delegation for Norway in order to discuss the possibility of ExchangePrograms fortheFaculty and Students among the two countries. AllIndiaMushiarawasorganised by the Department of Urdu in December,2013itwaswellreceived by the Faculty, Students and Non Teaching Staff. A two day International Conference of Vice-Chancellors’ from South Asian Countries on NurturingNewAvenuesinUniversity EducationinSouthAsia:Challenges &ProspectstookoffonWednesday, 16 October, 2013. It was inaugurated by Honorable Mrs. Margret Alva, the then Governor of Rajasthan.SpeakingasChiefGuest for the occasion she said, “We, like people in the rest of theworld, have to live with change -- perhaps the only constant--amidevernewchallenges and opportunities. The digitalrevolutionhas shrunkdistances, making the world a global village. Technological advances and ideas spread across the world, instantly as it were. Happenings -- good or bad– in one part of the world evoke instantreaction thousands of miles away.The world today is indeed an intricately linked web”. She further reiterated “It is high time we redefine, fine tune and enrich our definition of ‘Higher’ Education. For, ostensibly educated leadership -- across polity, education, economy, businessandbankingandreligious denominations--has,oftenenough, failed to display requisite commitment to address inequities with compassion”. A five day 8th South Asian Universities Festival-2015 (8th SAUFEST-2015) organised by MLS University Udaipur, sponsored and powered by Pacific University, under the aegis of Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi took off a glittering start in the City of lakes, Udaipur on Saturday, 7 March, 2015. The flagging off function was held at Fateh Sagar Lake where the dais was adorned by Honorable Shri Kalicharan Saraf, Minister for Higher Education, Government of Rajasthan, Shri Sunil Ambekar, National Organising Secretary of ABVP, Honorable Vice Chancellors – Prof. I.V. Trivedi of MLS University, Prof. T.C. Damor of RGT University, Prof. O.P. Gill of MPUAT, Udaipur along with Special Guests Shri. Bhawani Singh Detha, Divisional Commissioner Udaipur, Mr. Sampson David, Joint Secretary,AIU,NewDelhi,ShriChandrabhanKothari,MayorofUdaipur and Prof. D.S. Chundawat (DSW, MLS University, Udaipur) and Dr. RP Sharma (Registrar, MLS University, Udaipur), Prof. B. P.
