All Set For Flaging Off High-Speed Tejas New Delhi: The Tejas Express, a semi high speed train, to be flagged off on Monday from Dadar by Union Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu through video conferencing.
The train between Chatrapati shivaji terminus in Mumbai and Karmali in Goa will run five days a week and the inaugural train will reach Karmali, Goa at 35 minutes past midnight on Tuesday. The train boasts of modern facilities with enhanced passenger comfort and showcases the future of Train travel in India.
As for the facilities of the train, it is equipped with hi tec facilities like LED TV, WiFi, CCTV as well as fire and smoke detection facilities and tea, coffee vending machines as well. Automatic doors till now seen only in metro trains are there in this train too. t also has bio-vacuum toilets and hand dryers as well as a GPS based information service.
Its bogies are designed in such a way that despite the high speed, passengers sitting in it will feel none of the bumps and jolts and will easily be able to go from one bogey to another whatever be the speed.
The train will have an executive AC Chair Car with the capacity to seat 56 people and each bogey will have 12 AC Chair car with 78 seats capacity. Tejas Express's executive class fare has been earmarked at Rs 2,680 and without food it will be 2,525 rupees. The rent of AC Chair Car has been fixed at Rs 1,280 with food and Rs 1,155 without food. As the train is equipped with the best facilities, fares have been kept slightly highly more than normal mail or express train fares.
During the monsoon, the train will ply for three days in a week and five days in normal weather. the train will pass through the Konkan belt area replete with intense greenery and a breathtaking view of the sea, mountains and valleys. Tejas with its speed of 200 kilometers per hour is the first step towards India's dream of running bullet trains.
