It’s the time to turn waste into gold

NewDelhi:With a mission to spread awareness about Clean & Green Delhi under Swachh Bharat Mission and toprovidearobustwastemanagement solution in the capital,Art of Living& NDMC have joined hands to process 1 Ton wet waste per day. They have launched first of its kind, “Swachh Composting Plant” that will produce 100 percent organiccompost.Theplanthas beenestablishedbyNewDelhi Municipal Council (NDMC) in collaborationwithSriSriRural Development Programme Trust. SwachhCompostingPlant has been set up in NDMC Nursery Raja Bazaar, Sector4, Gole Market New Delhi and inauguratedbyGlobalSpiritual Leader and Founder Art of Living, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Lt. Governor, Delhi Shri Anil Baijal & Chairperson-NDMC, Shri Dharmendra. The plant will dispose of 1000 kg waste every day and produce 300 kg of organic compost without usingany chemicaltreatment. On the launch of Swachh Composting Plant, Global Spiritual Leader and Founder Art of Living, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said that “It is time to turn waste into Gold wherein we get an opportunity to change the polluted environment to fragrant gardens. He further saidthatitdoesnottake monthandyeartode-compose organic waste. This Swachh Compositionplant caninstantly convertwaste into manure.” “Segregation of the waste shouldbedoneineveryhome. We need to educate that how every individual should participate and separate organic and inorganic waste. If we will workinsynergy,wewilldowonders”. added Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.Addressingthegathering Shri Anil Baijal, Lt. Governor, Delhi said “Green initiativesoftheNDMCtowards eco-friendly solutionfororganic waste management is a efforts tomakewealthfromthe waste. But it is in practice of segregation of waste put in place a support by every citizen starting from their homes. For the purpose, every citizen is responsible for the segregationofwaste,soastoreduce dumping of the waste at landfill site”.Whileappreciatingthe efforts of NDMC and Sri Sri Ru r a l De v e l o p m e n t Programme Trust, Shri Anil Baijal, Lt. Governor, Delhi addedthat“weneedtochange thinkingofthesocietytoreduce thewastegenerationandsegregation in the re-usable manner, so that we create the wealth from the waste. He further saidthatthis initiativemay bereplicatedby theother civic agencies of Delhi to make the entire capital city green and clean.”Inhiswelcomeaddress, the Chairperson-NDMC, Shri Dharmendra said that under the Swachh Bharat Mission NDMC has taken an initiative to manage its kitchen waste in situ thereby it has saved on manual labouraswellastransportation cost. He further said that this shall help to improving the carbon footprint for NDMC and also reduce the air pollution of Capital City which is the need of hour. The Chairman NDMC informedthatNDMCalsoplans to install similar organic waste convertor at some more residential colonies like Bharti Nagar and Sanghli Mess. He furtherinformedthatanorganicwasteconvertorplant setup at the Madhu Limay Marg Nursery in collaboration with Art of Living is already processing organic waste on the average of 1000 kg daily. Secretary, NDMC Dr. Rashmi Singh while presentingthevoteofthanksapplauded the role of all the members of Art of Living actively associated with the project and other from Residents Welfare Associations, Market Traders Associations etc who participated on the occasion.
