Lotus brings focus on public health, organises training session on milk fortification with IIHMR

While fortification plays an important role in adding important elements to food, many products are still devoid of micronutrients.Deficiency inmicronutrients, such as Vitamin A, iron, iodine, folic acid, and zinccan result in poor physical and mental growth, particularly in children. At least half of children worldwide ages 6 months to 5 years suffer from one or more micronutrient deficiency. Milk is one of the most basic foods that can most conveniently be fortified and consumed considering that it comes under the periphery of being a staple food.  Keeping in mind the need forfortification in milk,Lotus Dairy todayorganised a training session on milk fortificationin association with IIHMR University. During the session, project heads from IIHMR explained the benefits of fortification in milk, along with how it benefits consumers while they also educated on statutory compliances for fortified milk.
