Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has said the government is promoting indigenization in the production of defence equipment and their export. Answering supplementary in the Lok Sabha during Question Hour today, he said equipment like launchers and target locators are being exported in a big way.



He said a defence export policy has been put in place and a body led by the  Secretary, Defence Production, has been set up to explore the export basket. Earlier, Minister of State for Defence Shripad Yesso Naik told the House that during the last financial year, 10 thousand 745 crore rupees worth of defence equipment was exported, registering a multifold increase as compared to previous years.
